A VFFS (Vertical Form Fill Seal) machine is an automated, high-speed industrial packaging system that builds bags out of a flat roll of film, fills them with a product, and seals them in a single, continuous vertical motion.
How It Works (The Process)
1. Film Unwinding & Tension Control: A flat roll of packaging film (plastic, paper, or laminate) unwinds and passes over tracking rollers and tension belts.
2. Bag Forming: The flat film wraps around a forming tube and collar, turning into a vertical cylinder. The vertical edges overlap (fin or lap seal) and are heated to form a center seam.
3. Product Dosing & Filling: A measuring system drops a precise dose of product down through the center of the forming tube into the open pouch below.
4. Sealing & Cutting: Horizontal sealing jaws close to heat-seal and pinch the top of one bag and the bottom of the next bag simultaneously, while a built-in cutter separates them.
